Over my career I have spent about 18 years of that actually managing people, that is I was in charge of telling them what to do, where to go, performance evaluations etc... What I found fairly early on, even though I could not describe it then, was that there is a difference between managing people and leading people. That difference is usually inherent in an individuals personality however it can be learned over time with introspection tempered with honesty.
I will attempt to publish my views as to what a good leader is in this section, I want to share my experience, my mistakes and my motivations to strive for leadership over management.
